The NEMO European Museum Conference 2023: and… ACTION! Museums in the climate crisis will explore how museums can contribute to climate action and sustainability by exploring sustainability strategies, risk management and ways to make museums futureproof. From 19-21 November in Lahti, Finland, conference participants can expect inspirational keynote speeches, enlightening panel discussions, engaging workshops, networking opportunities with European colleagues and museum study visits.
We have published a call for papers to encourage museum professionals to share their stories of action and what learnings they made from acting for climate change. Similar to the slam format, we want professionals to reveal their steps into action, be it with an elaborate long-term strategy or with a spontaneous hands-on approach. We are looking forward to hearing what was learned, what had to be adjusted and what did not work out at all.
We encourage you to use new entertaining, participative or learning formats, that maybe even looks into the future: 30 years from now, what has your action changed? Five projects will be selected to each do a 5-minute presentation each in a session on 21 November 2023. Your proposal should not exceed 400 words.
Selected participants will receive two hotel nights in Lahti as well as free entrance to the conference.

- Title of submitted proposal
- Synopsis of the proposal/ project
- Biography of each presenter (max. 100-word)
