NEMO Executive Board meeting and Master Class in Azerbaijan

From 13-15 February 2022, all but one member of the NEMO Executive Board travelled to Baku, Azerbaijan, for a board meeting as well as to offer a Master Class to museum colleagues in Azerbaijan.

On 14 February, the Master Class for Azerbaijani museum colleagues took place. The board members shared insights in their areas of expertise, which included developing national recommendations for museums with museums, sustainability, formulating a mission statement with the community, community engagement, online collections as well as museum ethics.  

The board member also met with Asgar Alakbarov, Chairman of the Board of the Administration of State Historical-Architectural Reserve "Icherisheher". He briefed the board on the work done in recent years in the Old City, including the developments of museums and the Baku Khan Palace Museum.

On the following day, board members David Vuillaume, Sergio Servellón, Dagmar Ingi, Aleksandra Berberih-Slana, Julia Pagel, Liv Ramskjaer, Lodewijk Kuiper, and NEMO’s Secretary General Julia Pagel met at the Isherisherher Administrative Building for the first board meeting of the new board. , Dagmar Ingi and Liv Ramskjaer were elected as new members to the board at the NEMO Annual General Meeting in 2021, Board Member Eva Koppen joined the meeting via video link she was unable to travel to Baku. The board discussed the upcoming year, especially the NEMO European Museum Conference taking place from 9-11 October 2022, and the yearly budget and goals. After the meeting, the board members were taken on a tour of the Heydar Aliyev Center.
