The European Parliament demands 13.5 billion Euro for cultural and creative sector

In order to cope with the Covid-19 crisis, the European Parliament is demanding that at least two percent of European Corona aid programmes should be dedicated to the cultural and creative sector.

Since the European Union launched its Covid-19 aid package earlier this summer, the Parliament was alarmed that neither the Commissioner nor the Council presented concrete plans to support the European cultural and creative sectors (CCS).

In a cross-party resolution, the Parliament demands that at least two percent, about 13.5 Euro, of the Recovery and Resilience Facility (RRF) should flow into the European CCS. Additionally, the Parliament advocates that Creative Europe should receive additional funds from the Corona aids,  increasing to 2.8 billion euros.
