After completing secondary education in classical languages, she pursued a Master’s degree in Art History and Archaeology at the VUB in Brussels. She subsequently worked in various museums and, from 1995 onwards, for the Museums of the City of Brussels. Her passion for art, history, culture and museums has always been a common thread throughout both her professional and personal life.
From 2000 onwards, Erika spent several years abroad, from where she continued to closely follow developments in the Belgian and international museum sectors. Upon returning to Belgium in 2009, she took up the position of curator-director at the Vegetable Museum‘t Grom near Mechelen, and six years later became project manager for the touristic development of Park Abbey in Leuven. Since June 2020, she has been using her knowledge and experience from the museum world as director of museumPASSmusées, helping to keep museums top of mind with a broad audience.
At NEMO’s European Museum Conference 2026, Erika will facilitate the workshop "The Museum Card as a driver of audience growth and sector resilience" on Monday 12 October.
