Morien Rees

Morien Rees is a Museum Development Advisor at Varanger Museum, Norway. He studied architecture at the University of Wales and art history at the University of Oslo and has practised architecture in the UK and Norway. Since 1994 he has worked in the museum sector and since 2004 at Varanger Museum on Norway’s north-eastern arctic coast.

In 2018 he was invited to chair ICOM’s Working Group on Sustainability. Recently he has been nominated to lead a working group in Norway examining aspects of ICOM's Code of Ethics guidelines related to sustainability, climate and the environment.

At NEMO’s European Museum Conference 2019, Morien Rees will facilitate the workshop Museums and the Sustainable Development Goals: Discover your SDG superpower together with Henry McGhie, Curating Tomorrow, and Molly Fannon, UN Museum, on Saturday 9 November.
