The online NEMO Learning Exchange with Multaka: Meeting point Museum will take place on 17, 23 and 30 June from 10:00-12:00 CEST. It is facilitated by Sarah Fortmann-Hijazi and Salma Jreige and will focus on how to implement outreach initiatives to diversify museum structures and visitors. Applications are accepted until 14 June 2021.

Apply to the NEMO Learning Exchange for the chance of learning how to engage and reach newcomers and people that usually do not visit the museum. In the course of the successful German initiative Multaka (Arabic for “meeting point”), newcomers from Syria and Iraq have been trained as museum guides to offer guided tours in the native language of other newcomers. The museums that participate in the programme have experienced an increase in visits from an audience group that they otherwise struggled to reach.

The NEMO Learning Exchange offers a general introduction to the concept of national and international outreach initiatives and diversification in museums. It will provide practical tools and valuable ideas to implement interactive projects such as Multaka: Meeting point Museum to better reach newcomers and other unrepresented groups.

Members of NEMO participate for free, and non-members can participate for a fee of 100 euro. Non-members do not need to provide a declaration of NEMO membership with their application.
