The cultural components of the EU budget for 2025, officially signed into law by European Parliament President Metsola, have been approved and remain closely aligned with the European Commission’s proposal in June.

The overall budget for the Creative Europe programme in 2025 stands at €352 million, allocated as follows:

  • Culture Strand: €108 million in commitments
  • Media Strand: €189.5 million in commitments
  • Cross-Sectoral Strand: €29.3 million in commitments
  • Support Expenditure (programme administration): €25.6 million.

Additionally, for Horizon Europe’s Cluster 2, titled Culture, Creativity and Inclusive Society, the budget amounts to €303.3 million in commitments.

Earlier this year Culture Action Europe reported that the Council had proposed budget cuts amounting to €295 million for Erasmus+, €400 million for Horizon Europe, and €34 million for CERV. However, following conciliation discussions between the Parliament and the Council, these reductions were reversed, resulting in modest increases:

  • Erasmus+: +€62 million
  • Horizon Europe: +€25 million
  • CERV: +€1 million

In related news, the Creative Europe cooperation project calls are anticipated to be released soon.
