Developed by ZEMOS98 in collaboration with TOWCHED partners across Europe, the kit offers a collection of modular activities that can be adapted to different educational settings, audiences and institutional contexts. Its aim is to help cultural organisations create participatory learning experiences while strengthening relationships between young people, educators, artists and heritage institutions.
The resource is structured around five modules and includes a range of hands-on activities, such as creative storytelling, treasure hunts, audio-based explorations, fanzine creation and exhibition-making. Designed with flexibility in mind, the kit allows facilitators to select and combine activities according to their objectives and local needs.
Complementing the Human Rights-Based Approach Toolkit
The Kit of Creative Resources is intended to be used alongside the Human Rights-Based Approach Toolbox, another resource developed within TOWCHED. While the Human Rights-Based Approach Toolbox supports institutions in planning and evaluating educational programmes through a rights-based lens, the Kit of Creative Resources focuses on the practical implementation of activities with children and young people.
Together, the two resources provide both a strategic and a practical framework for developing inclusive, participatory and sustainable learning initiatives in museums and cultural heritage organisations.
Supporting education for sustainable development
The resources form part of TOWCHED's wider work on Education for Sustainable Development (ESD), helping cultural institutions engage young audiences with heritage, sustainability and the Sustainable Development Goals through participatory approaches.
To support the launch of the resources, TOWCHED has also made available a recording of its webinar "Toolkit Talk: Promoting Youth and Human Rights in Heritage", which introduces both toolkits and explores their practical application in cultural and heritage settings.
Interested in being part of TOWCHED?
Recently the TOWCHED Network was launched with the aim of gathering various stakeholders to explore together how cultural heritage can contribute to just and sustainable development. Designed as a European community of practice, the Network connects professionals and organisations interested in the role of culture and cultural heritage in sustainable development. Members can exchange experiences, learn from one another and contribute to shaping future approaches to Education for Sustainable Development through cultural heritage.
On 7 September 2026 the TOWCHED network is organising its first online meeting. Participants will get to explore practical tools, learn from museum pilot experiences, connect with peers from across Europe, and help shape the future direction of the Network.
