Funding opportunity: ECCCH Cascading Grants – A call for museum and cultural networks and umbrella organisations

The second call for Cascading Grants under the European Collaborative Cloud for Cultural Heritage (ECCCH) is now open, offering a unique opportunity for museum umbrella organisations and cultural heritage networks to lead collaborative projects that strengthen the sector’s digital capacity.

With up to €29,800 available per project, the call will fund 20 initiatives that promote engagement and collaboration with the ECCCH. The focus is on skills development, capacity building, and expanding the ECCCH community - especially among small and medium-sized Cultural Heritage Institutions (CHIs).

This is a particularly relevant opportunity for networks and umbrella organisations, which are well-positioned to reach a wide geographical spread and mobilise diverse CHIs. Projects may include:

  • Digital or in-person workshops, webinars, and online courses
  • Training materials (toolkits, manuals, guidelines)
  • Info events on ECCCH benefits
  • Sector surveys
  • Help desks offering tailored support
  • Creative formats like hackathons, co-design, or co-creation sessions

Info day – 6 November 2025 at 11:00 CET

An online Information Day will be held to present the call and answer questions from potential applicants. As one of the project partners, NEMO will be present to introduce the call and share insights, making this a valuable opportunity for our members to learn more about the ECCCH, the application process, and how to get involved. We strongly encourage participation, which is free of charge but registration is mandatory.

For those joining NEMO's European Museum Conference 'Who cares? Museums, wellbeing, and resilience', in Horsens from 26-28 October 2025, please visit the ECHOES information booth to learn more about the project and the call. During the lunch break on Monday 27 October, NEMO Project Officer Margherita Sani will present the new call and explain its benefits to museums.

Why participate?

Joining the ECCCH means access to shared infrastructure, advanced digital tools (AI, 3D, annotation), and a collaborative space to digitise, preserve, and showcase cultural heritage. It also enables cost-effective collection management, boosts visibility, and fosters cross-border collaboration.
