NEMO at European Culture Forum

NEMO was at the European Culture Forum from 7-8 November 2017 in Milan and joined a panel on cultural heritage and civil society, representing the voice of museums in Europe. The European Year of Cultural Heritage 2018 was also launched at the event, pathing the way for a celebration of European heritage and helping foster a sense of shared identity and belonging.

The European Culture Forum was held in Milan for the first time. It is the largest meeting of cultural stakeholders and EU representatives from the sector. During the two days many discussions between the European creative sector and members of the European Commission and European Parliament and different committees came together to discuss and exchange. Additionally, the <link internal-link internal link in current>European Year of Cultural Heritage 2018 was launched on 7 December 2017.

Julia Pagel, NEMO's Secretary General, participated in a panel on cultural heritage and civil society. She stated that "networking between stakeholders is about sharing of best practices and building bridges to grassroots, to politics, to other sectors - to tab each other's potential of knowledge and skills!"

The EYCH 2018 is important for the networking sector as well as civil society on many regards. NEMO wants to celebrate the year with its members, its networks and the public, which is why the network awards the European Year of Cultural Heritage Label to cross-boarder initiatives and projects of museums. Prior to the event, NEMO also attended an important stakeholder meeting on the EYCH 2018.
