The NEMO One to One Mentoring programme has concluded another successful year, providing invaluable support to museum educators across Europe. This unique initiative, organised in partnership with GEM – Group for Learning in Museums, aims to foster professional growth, knowledge exchange, and personal development in the museum sector.

In 2024, a total of 10 mentees were selected to participate in the NEMO One to One Mentoring programme, which matches emerging museum professionals with experienced museum mentors. These emerging professionals come from countries including Türkiye, Hungary, Estonia, Lithuania, North Macedonia, Greece, Ireland, Montenegro, Slovakia, and Spain. The geographical diversity of the mentees highlights the programme's broad reach and its commitment to supporting the next generation of cultural professionals from across the continent.

Each mentee was carefully paired with a mentor connected to GEM, based on their individual needs and aspirations within the museum sector. By fostering these one-to-one relationships, the programme aimed to help mentees refine their professional skills, broaden their network, and gain insights into best practices from their mentors, who are experienced professionals in the field.

The mentoring programme not only helps mentees grow but also serves as a platform for mutual learning. Mentors, in turn, benefit from the fresh perspectives and new ideas that the younger generation or colleagues from different regions in Europe bring to the table. This dynamic exchange has proven essential in ensuring that museums across Europe continue to adapt and thrive in an ever-evolving environment.

Participants not only gain guidance and expertise but also build long-term relationships that can continue to support their professional journeys long after the programme ends. As the year comes to a close, both mentors and mentees can look back on the progress made and the knowledge shared, knowing that their partnership has contributed to the strengthening of the museum sector across Europe.

The next call for participants to the 2025 edition of the programme will be issued in the beginning of 2025. We look forward to another year of inspiring mentoring connections!
