NEMO’s Participation at THE ARTS+ “Future of Culture Festival”

THE ARTS+ takes place from 10-14 October 2018 in Frankfurt, Germany, within the framework of the Frankfurter Buchmesse. NEMO will participate in THE ARTS+ Innovation Summit: “The bigger picture: How can the cultural and creative sectors bridge the innovation gap?” on 10 October.

The one-day summit brings together the European creative sectors in order to tackle shared challenges posed by new technologies. NEMO is one of the programme partners of THE ARTS+ and will bring its knowledge about cultural heritage to the discussion as well as to ensure that the voice and needs of the museums are highlighted.

More than 100 participants are expected to take part in the second edition of THE ARTS+ Innovation Summit. Experts have been invited to stimulate the round-table discussions and NEMO has personally invited Dr Paul Klimpel (, Germany) and Dr Raivis Simansons (Museums & Creative Industries Working Group/NEMO, Latvia) to share their knowledge. To get to the “big picture” of promoting innovation for all, the Innovation Summit will begin by focusing on cultural heritage and book publishing before taking a broader look at the European cultural and creative sectors as a whole. Please find the schedule here.

NEMO and the other partners of THE ARTS+ Innovation Summit have identified key structural barriers to innovation in the creative sectors and have proposed potential solutions. The outcome of the work will be presented in the “European Manifesto on Innovation Support for Culture”, which will be made public at a press conference on 11 October at 13:00.

NEMO’s Working Group Museums and Creative Industries is joining NEMO at THE ARTS+ and will also visit the Historiches Museum Frankfurt (Historical Museum Frankfurt) for a Study Visit. The museum will inform the Working Group how the museum works with creative industries and, amongst other, introduce the participants to the project City-Lab.
