NEMO was represented through the participation of Secretary General Julia Pagel, who was invited to the forum as a key note speaker. Pagel held a presentation about “The Social Value of Museums – European approach to explore and tap museums’ social potential”.
Several speakers shed light on museums role in society and social inclusion throughout the day. Discussions were held with the hope of finding answers to questions such as “how museums play a key role in the development of local communities?”, “how museums work to save and develop people’s tradition and values for the future generation?” and “how museums work to enhance a climate of tolerance, peace, and respect for cultural identities and diversity?”
The one day international forum was followed with a two-day regional workshop that brought together 16 museum professionals from Georgia, Armenia and Azerbaijan who got the opportunity to reflect about the role of museums in a developing society and learn how to be part of generating change in with the help of museums.

NEMO is actively involved in the European Year of Cultural Heritage 2018 as one of the stakeholders and can award events with the EYCH 2018 label. All projects awarded with the EYCH label before September have the chance to be selected to present their activities at NEMO's Annual Conference from 15-18 November in Valletta, Malta.
