NEMO Speaks about Cultural Heritage at a Conference in Baku, Azerbaijan

The international conference "Journey from modern Azerbaijan to the Historical State of the Shirvanshahs" started yesterday, 23 October 2018, in Baku, Azerbaijan. NEMO had been invited to speak about heritage as well as national cultural identity and history.

NEMO's Secretary General Julia Pagel opened the conference in a panel discussion with Azerbaijan's Minister of Culture Abulfas Garayev, Asgar Alakbarov, chairman of the Icherisheher State Historical-Architectural Reserve, and the president of the National Academy of Science Akif Alizade.

Apart from attending  the conference, Julia also got to visit the Azerbaijan Carpet Museum to learn more about weaving techniques and try some of the techniques hands-on.
