NEMO issued a statement following the State of the Union Address by Jean-Claude Juncker. NEMO welcomes the clear acknowledgement of the power of cultural heritage by the president of the European Commission.

After publishing the White Paper on the future of Europe in which Jean-Claude Juncker presented five scenarios for the Europe of the future, he followed up on the debate and proposed a sixth scenario in <link http: europa.eu rapid press-release_speech-17-3165_en.htm external-link-new-window external link in new>his speech. This scenario is build on the European Union as a union of values - namely the guarantee of freedom, equality and the rule of law.

Let us celebrate Europe during the European Year of Cultural Heritage in 2018!

These values should be honored through the European Year of Cultural Heritage 2018 (EYCH 2018), celebrating diversity, shared principles and the belief in Europe.

NEMO welcomes Jean-Claude Juncker’s clear acknowledgment of the power of cultural heritage for Europe. Particularly museums with their collections safeguard and display our shared cultural heritage.

NEMO invites the European Commission and the Members States to continue to adequately support at all levels the European Year of Cultural Heritage 2018 and the European museums' work at grass-root, local, regional, national and European level for today's society.
