On Thursday 11 April 2019 at 13:00 CET a free NEMO webinar will take place. Margherita Sani, Project Manager at the Istituto Beni Culturali of the Region Emilia-Romagna and NEMO Board Member, will discuss museum education and public engagement based on trends and practices found in European museums. Register before 9 April 2019.

One of the biggest challenges museums face nowadays has to do with the increased number and variety of activities addressed to the public, or, better, to the publics. The concept of audience development translates into the numerous practices museums put into place in order to satisfy the needs both of the audience and of the funders. The term public engagement - as opposed to education – therefore better reflects what museum educators currently do. The webinar will look at this shift, using examples and case studies from different institutions in Europe.

The webinar is part of the BE MUSEUMER programme which aims to increase the professionalism of young museum workers in the South Caucasus region (Georgia, Armenia and Azerbaijan). The Creative Europe funded project is led by the Georgian Museum Association together with NEMO and the Academy of Cultural Management. Following the first training opportunity, which was exclusive to museum workers in in the South Caucasus region, a free webinar on the same topic and led by the same facilitator is organised.
