Voices of Culture: Brainstorming Session on Culture for Social Inclusion

This VoC Brainstorming Session aims to explore how public policies can encourage and support cultural institutions in working within partnerships with other sectors. NEMO has applied for the sessions to represent the voice of museums.

30 stakeholders from European civil society stakeholders can apply to exchange and develop ideas with 5 selected non-cultural stakeholders during a Voices of Culture (VoC) Brainstorming Session from 17-18 April 2018. The results of this session will be presented to and discussed with the European Commission in September 2018 at a Dialogue Meeting in Brussels.

The brainstorming session aims to identify ways in which public policies can encourage and support cultural institutions in working within partnerships with other sectors such as healthcare, social care, prison service.

During the session, participants are invited to briefly present two projects in Europe that best demonstrate the effectiveness of culture and heritage activities in fostering social inclusion, in partnership with other sectors. From these examples the group may identify success factors and obstacles. The goal is to steer towards guidelines for policy makers and cultural institutions to establish actions that facilitate effective partnership working between culture and heritage organisations and other sectors, in projects to promote social inclusion.

The call is open to representatives of the cultural and creative sectors (professional organisations, cultural institutions, non-governmental organisations, European networks, foundations, private organisations, etc.) with relevant expertise on the topic Culture for social inclusion – partnering with other sectors, who would like to contribute to discussions with the European Commission. Organisations applying must be from one of the 28 EU Member States. Thematic expertise, large multiplying effects as well as a geographical, sectoral and gender balance will inform the selection process.

Applications for this VoC session are open until 8 January 2018, 12:00 CET. Further information and the application form can be found <link http: www.voicesofculture.eu social-inclusion external-link-new-window external link in new>here.
